FAQs
Will I experience a pain free birth?

Taking HypnoBirthing® classes will not guarantee a pain free birth as there are lots of factors that can affect each birth. The classes do teach deep relaxation techniques, and to see the effect of these, practise is needed! A commitment to practise the breathing techniques will help to make your birth more comfortable. Eliminating fear around birth and becoming informed means that more often than not, couples have a birth experience they see as positive.

When should I start the classes?

We recommend starting the classes as soon as possible - the more relaxation practise you are able to do, the better! However, we understand some pregnant women feel very tired in the first trimester. Lots of our parents start the classes in the second trimester.

Can I join the HypnoBirthing® classes if I will be having a caesarean?

The methods that HypnoBirthing® teaches can actually be used at any time in life! We teach how to become deeply relaxed which can definitely be used during a caesarean.

Can I use HypnoBirthing® if I have a medical intervention during birth?

Yes! Although the course content is geared towards a complication – free birth, you can definitely use the methods you learn when medical intervention is needed. The ability to understand your own body and to remain calm and relaxed often means people come away from a typically difficult labour, feeling that their experience was positive and calm.

Can I do HypnoBirthing® classes if I don't have a partner?

We strongly recommend that women have a birth partner to support them during birth, to be able to communicate for them so that they can remain focussed on their relaxation. This doesn’t necessarily need to be the father of the child and can be a committed birth partner such as a family member or friend.
